I drew a building in my house with pixel art.  The building is a lot more to work with than the characters.

First, I drew the ground, sky, and the rough shape of the building.

Next, I added windows and roofs to the building.

We also added signage and an ice cream machine.

To create top-down pixel art, we added the top surfaces of the roof, window frames, and signs.

I finished it off by adding bricks and simple shading.

Here, I decorated the picture by adding the character I drew earlier.

The buildings seem to have less of a pixel art feel than the characters.
